MONTELLA: "WE KNOW UNITED ARE IN A GOOD RUN BUT WE HOPE WE CAN PUT AN END TO IT"


Asked about who will play in the right back, the Italian trainer didn't want to give any clues. He also highlighted the importance of handling the tempo of the game and finding the back of the net

Vincenzo Montella spoke to the media with Sergio Rico ahead of the crucial match at Old Trafford. The Italian trainer knows the importance of the game: “It is a very special game because we have only reached the quarter finals once and it was sixty years go. We must do our best and score at least once”.

Asked about the right back, where Jesús Navas is side-lined, he assured: “I don’t have a lot of options: either Escudero or Mercado will play. One thing is for sure: we are going to play with four defenders in the back line”.

Speaking about playing against one of the biggest rivals in Europe, he said: “We know that Manchester United is a really good team, full of top-players and managed by one of the best trainers. They are an historical team and we must do our best to beat them. It will be a difficult game and the key will be taking advantage of our chances”.

 

Asked about the Manchester’s players physical strength, he assured: “Normally top-teams have strong and quality players but I am not worried about it. I just want to see my players finding the back of the net”.

One of the keys tomorrow for Vincenzo Montella is handling the tempo of the game: “We must control every situation onto the pitch and find when is the perfect moment for attacking and defending”.

Finally, speaking about the painful defeat against Valencia last Saturday, he declared: “We have already analysed that game and spotted the mistakes. It is not the moment for criticising, we have to be confident for tomorrow”.
